The eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) are set to rejoin the party after meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
New Telegraph reports that the lawmakers were led to the meeting by the former governor and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Ahmad Dan-Wudil, media aide to Matawalle, the lawmakers reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to the APC and Tinubu during the meeting.

“Following the meeting, Minister Matawalle pledged to integrate the lawmakers into the Tinubu Again Movement, where they will work collectively for President Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections,” the statement said.
The legislators left the ruling party earlier this month, citing worsening insecurity, alleged injustice, and unpaid salaries and allowances.
The lawmakers are Aliyu Kagara, who represents Talata Mafara South; Ibrahim Bakura, who represents Bakura; Faruk Dosara, who represents Maradun I; and Bashir Masama, who represents Bukkuyum North.
It would be recalled that eight lawmakers in the Zamfara State House of Assembly were suspended on February 26, 2024, over allegations of gross misconduct, conspiracy, and holding an illegal sitting. The suspension was extended on May 13, 2026.
