The stage is set for the hosting of the 3rd edition of the 10th Senate President U-18 Unity Cup in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, John Ekpenyong, disclosed that 24 states have already picked participation forms, while some teams outside Nigeria were turned down because their participation is against the aims of the tournament.
“We have confirmed 24 states, and we expect more before the start of the competition on October 25.
However, we had interest from teams outside Nigeria who wanted to participate, but allowing them will be contrary to the aims of the tournament.
In future, we might need to adjust and create opportunities for such teams,” the President of Grassroot Sports Federation of Nigeria said.
“We’re counting down. It’s just six days to go before the much-anticipated 3rd edition kicks off in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, on October 25.
“With young football talents from 24 states expected to participate in both male and female categories, the tournament promises exciting football, national unity, talent discovery, and opportunities for the next generation of Nigerian stars,” Ekpenyong added.
