PHOTOS: Obi meets Swiss envoy, calls for stronger development partnership
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Mr Peter Obi, has called for stronger partnerships between Nigeria and Switzerland anchored on shared values.
Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, disclosed this in a post on X on Wednesday, where he gave an account of his meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Patrick Egloff, describing the engagement as productive.
According to him, the discussion centred on Nigeria’s developmental journey, with emphasis on education, healthcare and poverty alleviation as critical sectors driving national development.
He commended Switzerland’s contributions to Nigeria’s development, particularly in the North-East, describing the support as invaluable.
“I expressed my gratitude for the invaluable contributions of the Swiss Confederation to Nigeria’s development, especially its support for critical economic, cultural, humanitarian, and peace-building initiatives, particularly in the North-East,” he said.
Obi added that stronger partnerships built on shared values remained essential to Nigeria’s growth.
“Building stronger partnerships founded on shared values and a commitment to human development remains essential to creating a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria,” he stated.
